Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced at Wired25 conference in San Francisco on Friday the 8th of November,2019 that the image sharing social media platform will start hiding the likes for its users based on US next week.
As stated by the Mosseri “The “The idea is to try to depressurize Instagram, make it less of a competition and give people more space to focus on connecting with the people they love and things that inspire them”. Though the numbers of users to be part of the experiment in not disclosed by him while making the announcement.
Instagram started the test of this feature during the spring from Canada and expanding it to Japan, Brazil, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand and Australia in July. The total number of likes and the video views in a particular post won’t be visible to public whereas the users will still be able to see these numbers.
